Our audiology team diagnoses and treats hearing loss in children from birth to adulthood. The first 2 years of life are the most critical for language and language learning. Helping children with hearing loss at an early age can help them communicate for the rest of their lives.
As for adulthood, research says it took 7 years for people who have hearing loss to see an audiologist. The only way to know for sure is to get your hearing checked. Other people sometimes suspect we have a hearing loss before we do ourselves. Thus, if someone mentions they have noticed you have trouble hearing them, take them seriously and get a hearing test.
