MELAKA, 12 August 2026 – Global Hearing Care Centre (GHCC) Melaka successfully conducted a Hearing Awareness Talk and Free Hearing Screening Programme for the staff and residents of BIGTREE Medicare & Nursing Home, reinforcing its commitment to community hearing health and early identification of hearing difficulties.
The initiative aimed to enhance nursing home staff’s understanding of hearing loss, its impact on daily communication, and the importance of timely hearing care, especially among older adults.
During the session, GHCC Melaka’s audiologist provided practical insights on recognising signs of hearing impairment, types of hearing loss, and common communication challenges faced by individuals with reduced hearing. Caregivers were also guided on how to better support residents and encourage appropriate hearing assessments.

Following the awareness talk, GHCC Melaka conducted complimentary hearing screenings for staff and selected residents.
The screening enabled participants to gain clarity on their hearing status and helped identify individuals who may require further comprehensive evaluation. The team also offered basic hearing health guidance, communication tips, and recommendations for those showing potential hearing concerns.
This programme served as a valuable knowledge‑sharing platform between hearing care professionals and nursing home caregivers, equipping staff with improved awareness and practical approaches to enhance communication and care for residents with hearing difficulties.
GHCC Melaka extends its appreciation to BIGTREE Medicare & Nursing Home for the warm hospitality and active participation from the management, nursing staff, and residents.
GHCC Melaka remains committed to advancing community‑based hearing healthcare through educational initiatives, hearing screenings, and ongoing collaboration with care organisations—encouraging early detection and supporting better communication and quality of life for individuals with hearing challenges.
